About Solomon Dalong

Barrister Solomon DALONG

Minister of Youth and Sports

Federal Republic of Nigeria

  • Grey Twitter Icon

Dalong’s strong condemnation of the political regime is inherited, as political criticism runs in the family's blood up to his great grandfather. According to Dalong, “governance is a social responsibility and a democratic leader is equivalent to a human god, having the responsibility to determine the destiny of his followers. He did not acquire power by conquest, strength or might but either by charisma, bureaucracy or law. There is an instrument that confers that power on him and is expected to exercise it within the parameter of the enabling authority.” Abusing this power irritates him. This is not just an additional factor that shaped his critical political attitude but the most dire of these factors. In Langtang south Dalong is referred to as “the man who brought colored roofing sheets.”

7 Streams of Income

Beyond many personal finance books written by foreign authors, a good number of Nigerian writers have also seen the need to sensitise fellow Nigerians to the genuine tricks used in creating wealth. In the past, it was the likes of George Clason, Wallace Wattle, Robert Kiyosaki, Thomas Stanley and William Danko that many people relied upon to read about how to make money and become an employer of labour.

From some retired businessmen or administrators, money coaches and inspirational pastors, however, a good number of such books have climbed onto the book shelf. In Lagos, many stakeholders, on Sunday, celebrated the coming of another related book.

Titled “7 Streams of Income: God’s Original Wealth Creation Plan”, the book written by Reuben Onwubiko seeks to unveil the principles of wealth generation as espoused in the Bible.

What can you do with 120 naira in Nigeria today? Indeed, coming after the addition in the cost of fuel (remember subsidy palaver?) that has escalated the cost of living; that amount pales into insignificance. Thirty years ago, however, it was the all the amount gathered to commence the journey into one of the most endearing transport legacies in Africa. The Chisco Transport Company has metamorphosed into the more diversified Chisco Group. Welcome to the story of Chief Chidi Anyaegbu (MFR), the Okeiyi of Amichi in Nnewi.

Chief Anyaegbu has come a long way. The N120 was the seed money from he received from his uncle, but today, he sits atop the conglomerate Chisco Group, which has subsidiaries in oil and gas, finance, hospitality, real estate, import and export. After more than 30 years of wheeling and dealing, Chidi is slowing down to give back to society.
